It's about food! And while I don't think we can all live for a year on our own gardens's produce as she did, it was a book that made me think more about my food choices and societal trends.

Have you read "The Glass Castle" or "Half-Broke Horses" by Jeanette Walls? I found those fascinating and inspiring; true (or based on true) stories that read like fiction.

"Life is So Good" is the story of a black man raised in the south during the early 1900s who never learned to read until he was in his 90s!

And finally, "Elijah of Buxton" is a favorite in our home. I think it's a Newberry winner. It's about a boy who lives in a community of freed slaves in Cananda, and it is very moving, and believable. Your older boys might enjoy reading that one, too.

Happy reading!Rebeccahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00355108665426444606noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5858280271217609516.post-4235473997455244222013-02-02T11:26:19.252-05:002013-02-02T11:26:19.252-05:00Edenbrook is good and How to stuff a wild zucchini...Edenbrook is good and How to stuff a wild zucchini --
my daughter (15) who loves to read loves both books!
Thanks for your fun blogAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5858280271217609516.post-28247758170993501422013-01-30T11:46:09.659-05:002013-01-30T11:46:09.659-05:00Britt,

I have read some awesome books lately!! Daughter of Smoke and Bone is amazing. It's a weird beginning but just keep going. The sequel is great too! I seriously LOVE them! I have also been reading a series: The Great and Terrible. Very good!! Just a warning tho, the first in the series is not very good- initially I stopped reading the series after the first cause I thought it was so lame - but the rest are Really good!! :)Brittanyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11184370546758900065noreply@blogger.com
