Campout with Grandpa

Connor, TJ and Coleman received this cute email from Grandpa Sterzer (He calls them all Jack-a little inside joke with him and the boys) :

Jack, Jack Jr. and Jack3,

You are all invited to Grandma and Grandpa's for a campfire and sleep-out Friday, 16 May (one week before Jack's birthday). "IF" you agree to come, I will pick you up on the way home from work. We'll put the tent up, play some games, get a fire going in our new 'fire pit', roast some weeniers, do some marshmallows (or smores), tell some scary stories, lay down to watch the stars and listen to the wind blow. What do you say? Will you all come?

Love you guys, Grandpa

They were so excited all week, anticipating this sleep over! They had such a great time! They set up a tent in the backyard, had hot dogs, roasted marshmallows for smores and told stories around the fire pit. Grandpa even gave the two older boys a possibles bag (a small bag with all the things you could possibly need out in the wilderness), and a bag of polished rocks for Coleman. He taught them some knots too. Which will come in handy for my little scouters! He is such a great Grandpa! I know they will treasure the memories of times like this with their Grandpa forever! Thanks Dad! We love you so much!

Cannon and Bridger can't wait until they are old enough to have "camp outs" with Grandpa too!

PS Can you tell it was a Jazz game that night? They ended up losing to the Lakers that night and getting kicked out of the play-offs. Good thing the boys were having such a great time --it lessened the blow!

PSS I sent my camera along with the boys. Grandma took all the pictures--so she is not in any, but I know she was a big part of the night too. The boys have told me all about the cool bible story she told around the campfire and the yummy pancake breakfast she made in the morning!

I have so many great memories of backyard campouts with Dad. In fact, we had a lot of of heart to hearts either trying out our new camp cots in the backyard or up in the mountains on a hunting trip. Mom was sure a fun mom camping, too, wasn't she? We were pretty lucky.
