I spent the last few days packing ornaments, rolling up twinkly lights and vacuuming pine needles. I can't believe the magic of Christmas will have to wait another year. As I packed up our Christmas trimmings I couldn't help but wonder, what will our family experience before I unpack these again? Putting away Christmas always makes me a little melancholy, but as my oldest said "Even though it is sad, it kinda feels like we have breathing room again". I know what he means.
The last thing to take care of is our 2010 Christmas card collection. Watching the back of the door fill up has become a highlight of the season for us. I find my boys looking at all the pictures and talking about who is who and stories they have with these people that we love. Such a delight! Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking the time to send out cards!
Tomorrow I will (hopefully) put all the pictures away in our Christmas Card Binder. I got the idea from my cute Mother-in-law. Every Christmas spent in Arizona, we have had so much fun looking thru her Christmas card albums. I have to admit I am a little behind, I have the last two years to do. At least this is one job I am looking forward to!
How is your New YEAR going?
I am getting off to a slow and easy start. I have decided that my resolutions don't officially start until next week. I still have a few more days to get organized and finish off the holiday treats:) before getting all fired up with my exciting goals!
I think 2011 is going to be a great year!

I'm with you on the slow start to the New Year! I love the christmas card album idea!
Great idea on the Christmas card album. I remember growing up my mom used to turn the Christmas cards into collages and make them into holiday placemats. It was a fun way to see the cards again the next year. I can't wait to hear your resolutions. Although I'm not really sure what more you should be doing. Your pretty close to perfect in my book.
WE HANG OUR CARDS ON THE BACK OF THE DOOR TOO!!! I love the idea of putting them in a binder. Thanks for sharing!!
We had Christmas put up a while ago--while I loved having it up and glowing and magical, it sure does feel nice to reclaim the chunk of space the tree takes up! :)
I think Christmas cards are the highlight of my Christmas decor, too! I just love them. I have been throwing away all of them (Except family), but maybe I will start keeping them, too.
