Family Command Center

Do you find that you are always trying to figure out new ideas to keep the family rolling in the right direction? I am--I think we must be easily distracted. Anyway, this is my latest idea. (And as a little sidenote, I am LOVING my sunroom. I don't know why homes in the west don't have them. They are great.)
This is on a magnet board in our sunroom--right off our kitchen. It keeps our family on track and in order each week. It has been working really well for us so far.
Family Command Center includes:
Weekly calendar
Family Rules
Melanboys Cafe weekly specials:)--aka our menu for the week
Scripture Mastery--right now we are memorizing (D&C 88:63)
Words to Live by--fun quotes I change out
Clipboards--holding boys weekly schedules and jobs

I made these little clipboards for each of my boys using scrapbook paper and modge podge. I print out a new paper each week with their schedules and jobs on it. On Saturdays I use the notepad to write a longer list of jobs to be done or notes to the boys:) This has worked great for us so far...crossing my fingers that it will for a long time!

I even made a clipboard/schedule for myself. I keep it above my desk in my wrapping station.
Now if I can just follow it!

Hi Melanie! Love your blog. This command center is a great idea. I've kind of got one, but I'd like to make it a bit bigger so I can fit more stuff on it. Thanks for your prayers and kind words. This has been a difficult time for our family but Bronson is doing so well now! What a miracle! Your boys are getting so big!! I hope you are all doing great out there! I'll have to check out your blog some more. Keep in touch!

Wow! You are so organized, and I love the decorated clipboards. How do the kids do with their job charts? Remember the one we used growing up - just an ugly old turn wheel? :-)

Oh wow, Mel, I LOVE it all! I had to drag Eric in to see! :) I love the organization and creativity of your "family command center"! The rules are great too. Everything is awesome! The modge podge clipboards are absolutely darling!! I wish I could have come over and made them with you. I love stuff like that but I always get overwhelmed with knowing where to even start! You are so neat, Mel. You make your house a true home. It really is a haven for your family! i love you!!

Love, love the command center! What a great idea. What inspires your boys to keep up with their jobs? Do you have any kind of incentive program or are they just fabulously self-motivated little guys?

Hello! I just linked over to your blog from sisterscafe! I've been using THAT blog for over a year, WHY have I never seen yours? I LOOOVE your command center. I am a mom of 4 boys (ages 3-10) and I SO need one of these. I've been wanting to do one, and am overhwhelmed and don't know where to start. I'm with Deanna up there, could you PLEASE send me your boys' chore charts, etc. Anything you have to get me a little more organized? I so appreciate it and LOVE your blog! Thank you!

I love your idea! I am hoping it will work in my home. Where did you get your weekly calendar? I noticed on your summer job post, you had purchased one. It is a little to pricey. I am hoping this one is less. Thanks for your advice and ideas.

I came upon your blog from the sisters cafe and love it. You are very creative. I want to do the command center. Will you let me know where you got the magnet board? Thanks!!

Hi Krista,
I got a 2 foot by 4 foot magnet board online here (http://diamondlifegear.com/magnetic-board.htm) and then I just "framed" it on the all by attaching trim pieces. It was cheap and i love it. You can see a better picture of it on the summer chore chart post. Hope that helps!!

You are an inspiration. I am planning for my girls 12 and 14 and putting together chore lists for the summer. Totally adopting your command center right now! Thank you. Where did you find the large stainless magnetic board?? Help!
