So---we have a love/hate relationship with the Pinewood Derby. Let me explain, the boys LOVE it and Brad hates it! Some Dads just can't wait for the pinewood derby, they research designs and secrets to winning online, buy special axels and expensive wheels, sand for weeks, paint it with real autobody paint, make a second car for back up...the list goes on! This is not Brad's "thing". Unfortunetly, he does not enjoy turning a block of wood into a lightening fast speed machine. But he does enjoy time with his boys... so for the last few years he has done his best to help them build a respectable pinewood derby car. These cars may not take the grand prize for speed...but they can hold their own. The boys cars have always been in the top 3 in their dens races. Brad pretty much puts it off until the last minute, but he never lets them down. It is actually really fun to see them all working together on them. They sand for hours it seems! He lets them pick out the body style and the color of paint--any color--which usually means a trip to Home Depot (If I was in charge I would probably make them pick from colors we already have). Then he helps them create some crazy zig zag design or whatever they want, along with painting the windsheilds too! He is such a fun Dad, you would never know that he didn't just LOVE doing it! He may claim to hate it--but I know he loves this time with his boys. And I guess he better get used to it--with 5 boys he will be making A LOT of pinewood derby cars!!

Wow, what a flashback! I used to love making a car for the pinewood derby (even though they never let me race because I was a girl). Great job on your cars Connor and TJ, they look awesome and super fast!!!
Haha! That's true - Brad has a long and promising future of Pinewood Derby races ahead of him. ;) Those cars look great, and he is such a great sport to help them with their cars. :)
