13 years ago today...

Brad and I were engaged!!

*Don't mind the dates stamped on the side of the pictures. The camera was wrong!
At the time he was going to ASU and I was at BYU. We would see each other every couple weeks and had MANY, many long and rather expensive phone calls everyday. I had a plane ticket to fly to Arizona for Valentines Day. We had talked about getting married and I was pretty sure he was going to propose while I was there. I had mentioned that I was a little bit sad that my family wouldn't be there. What I meant was, I wanted to come home and show my family the ring and share with them the excitment. So with this in mind, my darling Brad spent more of his hard earned money (he worked 3 jobs all thru college), and flew up to Utah on February 10th 1996, rented a car so he could propose to me in front of my family on Temple Square.

He arranged for my parents to plan a family night out to Temple Square. My Dad told us he wanted to treat his 5 girls (wife and 4 daughters) to dinner downtown. (My only brother was on a mission for our church.) So we were just walking thru the temple square, when out steps BRAD..looking as dashing and handsome as ever!
He got down on one knee with the beautiful Salt Lake Temple as a backdrop, surrounded by my family, and asked me to marry him. I was shocked and so HAPPY! After lots of hugs and congratulations from my family, and even some strangers who had stoppped to watch, the two of us were off! First, we enjoyed a cozy and romantic horse drawn carriage ride around downtown Salt Lake City. Then we went to find something to eat. We ended up at Chilis.

It was very sweet and perfect evening,
that I will never forget!
So this afternoon, I will be making a quick dinner for our boys to enjoy without us, and spending some time getting all dolled up for an evening out. I will be ready to be swept off on a hot date with my still handsome and dashing Brad. I can't wait!! And I think we will go to Chilis!

Very sweet you two! And you haven't aged a bit! It's so fun that your family was there to "capture" the moment in pictures. How sad that I would have to go back through my journal to find the date we were engaged--I REALLY need to cash in on that memorable date as well! Hope you have a wonderful night out!

I remember thinking that was the best engagement ever when it happened! What a sweet husband. Hopefully you had fun at dinner. :)

P.S. And who is that HOT girl in the background of the kissing picture? Those jeans look too good pulled up around her underarms. :) Too bad I wasn't Baba with the hot legs!

This brought back lots of fun memories of you and Brad dating. This was such a happy day for us all - we were so excited to have Brad become a member of our family. He has been a wonderful son to us. And, I agree, he is a very romantic guy!
Love,
