Connor finishing the 26.2 miles strong with his little brother joining him for the last 1/2 mile sprint! This was a pretty sweet sight for a Momma!
Connor wanted to participate in the 'Joseph Standing Marathon' last month that his scoutmaster Mr Harry Ray organizes each year as a tribute. Joseph Standing was an early missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in this area that was killed by a mob in 1879. You can read more about him here. They start at the Joseph Standing monument at 3:30am and walk/run a 26.2 mile course meandering through the beautiful Tennessee/Georgia countryside. Finishing back at the monument again where friends and family are waiting with a big delicious luncheon.
Brad decided to keep him company for the first 16 miles. They got up at 3:00am and bundled up for the pitch black marathon start! What a sweet Dad. He came home with blisters but had a good time with his oldest.
We are so proud of this boy of ours. Connor is seriously one TOUGH and DETERMINED young man. He is always amazing us with his inner drive. I have a feeling this is just his first marathon. We love you Con-man!

WOW! What an accomplishment...I am so proud of him!! That takes a lot of determination and hard work! Is he on the cross country team at school this year?
I am equally as proud of Brad...16 miles! That is not too shabby for an old guy:). Give them both big hugs from me!

Connor- you're the man. Always have been impressed with you. You have been blessed with a lot of gifts but two I noticed early on was your absolute honesty- (even as a 4 year year old when saying nothing would get the blame put on your two year old brother!) and your determination. I'm sure proud of you Connor- and grateful to be your Uncle and watch you grow up. Looking forward to next summer when you guys come again for a visit!
I didn't know Connor did the whole 26.2 miles! I am SERIOUSLY impressed. I have always thought marathons were such an amazing accomplishment. I am so proud of Connor. This post made me really miss him. I am lonesome for my oldest nephew! Tell Connor I love him!
