Adjusting our Sails

I have been thinking a lot about these wise words lately.  Sometimes things don't go as planned or work out like we had hoped.  One of my boys was experiencing just that recently and we were able to have a great talk.  I shared one of my favorite poems,  Invictis with him and reminded him that yes,  he is the master of his fate--the captain of his soul.  We may not be able to control what happens to us---but we control our attitude which makes all the difference in the end.

Have you seen this little clip?  This man has mastered adjusting his sails.  Blows me away--a real life hero for sure!

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
      For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
xoxo
