A Little Master bedroom Update

First of all THANK you so much for all your help and encouragment on the last post regarding Coleman's Celiac diagnosis. I think I may have the best family, friends ever. And I do consider some of you that I have never met other than through the blog, my friends! I love you all!! Thank you!
I love my bed which was a wedding gift from Brad's parents who owned a furniture store when we got married. I had such fun picking it out almost 17 years ago:) I still love the style, but I was so tired of the burgundy and green colored linens we had on it for over 10 years! It was definitely time for a change!

I decided to use this beautiful painting as my inspiration. This was the picture that was used for the cover of BYU Women's Conference program last year and it "spoke to me" the moment I first laid eyes on it. I remember how it captured my attention as I took the program out of the mailbox last Spring. This scripture was written across the cover." ..and they were armed with righteousness and with the power of God in great glory." I LOVED it. So I ended up doing some research and was able to order a canvas copy. Then, unfortunately it sat in my closet for almost a year until I finally went and had it framed recently.  oops!
I find this image so moving. It is called "Zion Ho" by Minerva Tichert. It is a beautiful tribute to our pioneer heritage. I love how the woman depicted is standing shoulder to shoulder with her husband, having pushed a handcart carrying all of their worldly possessions, over 1300 difficult miles. I imagine they had sacrificed so much, been true and faithful, and together they have finally reached the valley. I love how she has turned around facing the others behind her, encouraging them, letting them know how close they are. When I look at this piece I feel so inspired like she is beckoning and cheering me on! I want to follow her example and be more dedicated to what I hold dear; the gospel of Jesus Christ and to my family. She reminds me of the importance of strong and committed women and our sacred roles of wife and Mother. When I look at this picture I feel like I too, can face the difficulties that I am called to go through in this life with grace and determination. It also reminds me to be encouraging to others who may not be able to see the light of the "valley" yet but are down in the trenches of their trials. It is a sweet image to wake up to every morning.
Even though the picture is my favorite part of my little update, I am enjoying the new colors too:)
I ended up keeping the cream duvet cover we already had since we had just relplaced it last year from Potterybarn. I got the linen bedskirt, and big Euro pillows from Potterybarn too. I found the little embroidered pillows from Peir One, and the quilt folded at the bottom of the bed is from Home Goods.
This post is making me feel tired, I think that cozy bed is calling my name! Too bad I have about a gazillion things to get done today! I sure do get excited to sink into those covers each night though!

I love everything about this post! I too have a Minerva Tichert painting hanging in our bedroom that I wake up to every morning. It is the one of the Savior holding the black sheep. It has been a favorite for years - it speaks to me and is a daily reminder of His love for me when I am at my most difficult, thus my privilege to love others in the same way, when they are at their most difficult. As for the bed linens...I am a sucker for really good, beautiful bed linens. Nothing better than a beautiful, inviting space to spend time sleeping - one of my most favorite activities! Thanks for sharing the art that inspires you and for a peek into your master bedroom - it's beautiful!
